The Thick Series was created when I first moved to the USA in 2010. I had brought over a number of unfinished canvases with me which I reworked with thick impasto using a palette knife and a lot of white paint. These works are sculptural in quality, dense with texture and the patterning that results from many layers of thick paint working with each other as color is applied. 
I would often leave small windows to the base painting as a gesture to the past, making visible the build of the work. I was integrating my old work with my new, much as I was doing in life at the time, settling into a new country but not forgetting my roots.
This Series continues today.
