Dreaming of Tree's and Water. Umber's, Sepia, Sienna's and Red's along side Aqua Marine, Blue's and Phthalo Green's.
The past 6 weeks have been dedicated to painting the work on show for 'Of Tree's and Water' (November 1st-15th 2012- The Wine Therapist-Dallas)
It has been a huge rush of creativity...Creating Canvases by day and painting them at night.
People often ask of the Crosses apparent in many of my works, they represent an energy and motion to act, to strike the canvas, make a mark despite the ability in doing so, to ruin what lay before.
That is where it becomes courageous to commit and where the religion may lay; not in the sign of the cross as a symbol so much as the act of returning day after day to paint, The ritual of putting on my paint clothes and the preparation of paint, creating a space where the flow can begin. It is a dance, of color and rhythm.
Memories of a recent trip to New Zealand played out in my mind, as the colors came forward and again receded. Revealing and concealing as a landscape was created in layers. Stalactites and Stalagmites rose and hung while rains pelted and dripped. Layers of red and green's made up landscapes dotted with the same colors as on the mountainsides in NZ.
This has been a soothing series to create.
