I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in Glenn Eure’s, Ghost Fleet Gallery’s 26th Self Portrait show in April!
The Ghost Fleet Gallery is a beloved community art hub in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, USA.
The theme this year was ‘Put yourself in the picture’ and as always I interpreted the theme abstractly.
I began thinking about the past year of many changes and how at times I’ve felt such high’s and at other times such low’s. It has been quite a bumpy ride, yet, there is hope and much to celebrate.
The voice of the feminine is being heard more clearly in all walks of life, offering fresh viewpoints on change but birthing isn’t always a quick process, often difficult and messy. Life is a lot like that too. But there’s a tenderness to be found among people who have contemplated and grown in awareness and this recent year of upheaval has brought many opportunities for reflection and growth.
As much as it feels like a decomposing, it also feels like we are building anew- as a society, as individuals and as always, from the inside-out.
This work is in-part biographical, and in-part a reflection of our experience as the feminine rises on Mother Earth.
I have not painted a great deal in this year gone by and look forward to regaining momentum and lightness of being. Building from the ground up, new beginnings.
