The day before moving house, I received a phone call from the lovely LauraLee at The MAC to advise me that the painting I had submitted was actually over the size limit specified! I can't believe that oversight on my behalf, not sure if it was a maths error or just too many things going on at the time for me to be on the ball but, it needed to be swapped out for another recent painting that met the entry criteria.
I was lucky to have a work I had not yet packed that had been made this year and was the right dimensions, also with the Title of 'Transcendence' fitted the shows title of TRANS.... What I didn't have was the time frame or the transport available in that hour to get to The MAC and swap the paintings.
A big Thank you to LauraLee who manages memberships and volunteering (amongst other things) at The MAC. She said she wouldn't have me miss out on being apart of the show again this year and that they may have let the work hang regardless if they had room but with the growing popularity of the show and 321 entries this year, the show had grown to capacity and they could not but she would happily send an intern over to swap the paintings, so my entry could be included!
Bravo LauraLee! I could not have been more surprised or grateful.
That is the kind of care and dedication to it's shows and it's members that makes 'The McKinney Ave Contemporary' (The MAC) so unique and so special.
If you are local to Dallas and have not checked it out I highly recommend going to have a look at the work on display. There is always a quality show to see. Here is the link: http://the-mac.org/
Here is a photo of 'Transcendence'. It is not of high quality as I used my phone as the camera was in a box somewhere already packed.
Transcendence: The state of being experienced when making my art.
